Don’t let the appearance of pesky pores determine how confident you feel about your skin’s appearance. Although pores are responsible for keeping oil in your skin so it stays soft and hydrated, it’s likely you don’t want to see them in the mirror every day. Typically found on the nose, chin or forehead, pores become enlarged, infected or clogged with oil, which can lead to blackheads or blemishes.
While there’s no way to permanently shrink pores, a daily skin care regimen can reduce their visibility. Here are some additional points to consider.
1) Keep it squeaky clean. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser every morning and night to remove oil and dirt. This is because cleaning leftover debris from your face will reduce pore prominence and decrease potential blackheads.
2) Hydrate. While missing a few glasses a day won’t make a huge difference, constant dehydration dries the skin. Be sure to use a daily moisturizer to assist in this.
3) Watch your diet. Pores can become enlarged due to a bacterial infection, but you can easily prevent this by eating foods such as wheat, rye and barley because they contain high amounts of the mineral selenium, which has proven to be excellent for skin. Also, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and plums, which contain a good amount of antioxidants, are great for your visage as well. Savor the flavor and watch your skin glow.
