Everybody knows how important hygiene is, especially if you don’t want to wind up with a bad breakout before a big event. Yet while most gals are careful to wash their faces each and every day, plenty of us forget about the other big component of skin care – moisturizer. Like peanut butter and jelly, face wash and moisturizer go hand-in-hand.
There are many types of moisturizer, and deciding which one is right for you is all about figuring out what kind of lovin’ your skin needs. Are you prone to flaky patches of dry skin or using any kind of acne-fighting product that might leave your face feeling rough and flaky? If so, what you really need is an ointment. Thick, viscous and oh-so-hydrated, ointments are perfect for skin in serious need of repair (think the corners of your nose after you’ve had a cold and have been abusing the Kleenex box nonstop).
If you’ve got normal skin that just gets dry and tight after a wash, opt for a cream moisturizer. It’s still a little heavier than a light lotion, but it won’t clog your pores or leave you greasy. And if your visage is clear and healthy, all you need is light, fresh product that’ll glide on under makeup or before bed to help keep your skin sexy and supple.
No matter what you choose, remember to look for non-comedogenic, which means it won’t clog your pores.
