How to prevent skin damage before it even occurs

It goes without saying that embracing a healthy skin care routine is key to looking as young as possible. In fact, following a strict regimen can save your epidermis – the top layer of your skin – from beauty blunders such as sun damage, dryness and premature aging. And, like most things in life, it’s often easier to stick to good habits instead of being forced to fix the results of bad ones.

With that in mind, here are three tips to get you started.

1. Drink at least eight cups of water a day. This replenishes the body’s natural hydration needs and can create a healthy glow.

2. Wear sunscreen when spending time outside. This isn’t just necessary during the summer – believe it or not, sun damage often occurs during the winter as well. This is because the snow acts as a reflecting intensifier and the sun’s rays can do serious damage to skin already facing cold wind chaffing.

3. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. If you’re worried about wrinkles, add an anti-wrinkle cream, such as Hydroxatone® AM/PM Anti-Wrinkle Complex, to your routine. Hydroxatone increases skin hydration for all ages by 20 percent, includes a light SPF to block ultraviolet rays for quick forays out into the sun, improves tone and reduces age spots.

Regardless of the products you’re using, preventative skin care may be one of the best things you can do for yourself in order to continually look fresh-faced and beautiful.
