Many of the world’s beauty icons have a “signature look.” From Marilyn Monroe’s red lips to Twiggy’s lashes to Kate Middleton’s hair, all these women have a look. I love beauty products and beauty icons. Shouldn’t I have a look too!?
Though I love my beauty products, it took me a while to figure out what my signature look was. But after looking at my favorite icons and figuring out what worked with my features, lifestyle, tastes, and, well, HR department, I came up with my signature look.
Bambi eyes. I grew up feeling like I had to have blue eyes to be beautiful, but I finally started to appreciate my brown eyes when I realized how beautiful they looked when surrounded by thick lashes. Now I use chocolate eyeliner, loads of mascara, different shades of brown shadow, and Latisse to show people that brown is as beautiful as blue.
Glowing skin. Women like J. Lo and Halle Berry made me want to enhance my golden-brown skin. I’ve played with all types of cleansers, moisturizers, primers, powders, and foundation to figure out what will make my skin look smooth and healthy and give it that natural glow. (Yes, I go through all that to look “natural.”)
White teeth. While I love a strong red lip, that might come across as a bit strong with my Bambi eyes (at least when you have to worry about what HR thinks) so instead I play up my mouth by focusing on my teeth. I love trying new at-home products to make my teeth look brighter; gloss and lipstick are an afterthought when your teeth are white and shiny. And while a lot of make-up can be polarizing (too much! too little! too trendy!), no one can really argue with a nice smile.
What is your signature look? How do you achieve it?
