I have always wanted lighter hair. My hair is jet black, and while it’s beautiful and healthy, I get bored easily. Yeah, for instance, right now I’m sporting bright red locks! Needless to say I had to sit at a salon for 6 hrs to achieve this look. But not everyone is as drastic as me. That being said there are plenty ways to safely and naturally lighten your hair!
Sun: Ever noticed your hair becomes lighter in the summer months? That’s due to the time spent out in the sun. We all know that the sun’s rays are strong. So strong that it will give you highlights and with more time spent under it, eventually lighten your hair all together! Lay out, spread you hair evenly and cover the rest of you in SPF or with a towel!
Water: Another natural element that will help this process is water! Dive in! A lake, the sea, or even the pool will help change the color of your hair. Chlorine is known to lighten hair extremely, so be careful if your hair is chemically treated. But if not, it’s a sure way to speed up the process!
Stay in the sun to dry off your hair! There is nothing like a good tag team to get the job done!
Lemon: Lemons serve many purposes, one being used as a bleaching agent! Many people use skin care infused with lemons to even out there skin tone. But partnered with the sun it lightens those tresses, too! Use the lemon juice from your local grocery store or if you prefer a slightly more potent potion, go with fresh squeezed lemons! Use one of those travel spray bottles and when out in the sun soak your hair with the juice. Let dry and repeat, but remember being out in the sun is half the process! So find something outdoorsy to do!
(ADDED TIP) Mix a little olive oil to the lemon juice to add a moisturizing effect. Lemons can dry out the hair, and olive oil is also a brightening agent! Win Win!
