Seriously? How is anyone around here supposed to figure out healthiness when there are so many conflicting studies, reports and opinions? Let’s face it, we can’t even figure out the definition of healthiness let alone how to be healthiness.  There isn’t a day that goes by when I hear someone talking about trying a new diet, a new workout routine, adding this or avoiding that.

Healthiness can be empowering.

So how is one to figure out how to navigate healthiness when there are so many conflicting opinions and thoughts? Here’s the truth: healthiness is as unique as your fingerprint. That means you cannot copy someone else; you have to figure out healthiness for yourself.

While it may seem difficult and overwhelming to figure out healthiness for you, it can also be empowering. We each have our own opportunity to define what healthiness is for us. Consider this: it is you who has the power to decide what works for your body, what makes you feel good and what throws you off. It is you who can choose what helps you feel healthy and what doesn’t feel right.

Healthiness is not one size fits all.

Instead of trying to mimic someone else’s healthiness, take bits and pieces and fit them into your own journey. Healthiness is not just about losing weight or being a certain size – it is about learning who you are. The only way to learn who you are is to stop copying everyone else, slow down and be patient with yourself.

There are so many different opinions that can be a part of a healthiness journey. Just because something worked for someone else does not mean you should force it to work for yourself. The most important part of being healthy is slowing down and listening to your body. Listen to what your body is telling you. Adjust what you are doing until you figure it out. And when that stops working, or when life changes, readjust.

Healthiness is a journey, not a destination.

Healthiness is a journey. When you are starting on your healthiness journey, be patient and recognize this is your life – this is forever. Healthiness is a lifestyle, not a program.
