It‘s fun to change your makeup routine from time to time. Trying out new trends you see in magazines and online is a fantastic way to freshen up your look …or is it? If you’re adept at re-creating makeup looks that you’ve seen then you’re ahead of the game, but for many of us, putting those looks into practice is more of a challenge than we bargained for.
If you’re dying to try some of the more dramatic applications you’ve seen and are lacking the skills to properly execute them, then you can always consult with a professional. Otherwise, it’s probably best to stick with some of the more wearable new looks. Fortunately, this season there are great options that should translate quite easily into real life. As mentioned on both HarpersBazaar.com and Elle.com, here are three fresh makeup trends from the spring runways that you can incorporate into your beauty repertoire.
A hint of things to come – sunny cheeks: If you are already feeling anxious for summer weather, then why not at least look the part while you’re waiting. Sun-kissed cheeks were all over the spring runways. Shades of bronze, coral, apricot, peach and natural flush are a very big trend. To recreate the look, choose a shade that mimics the color you get in your face when you have a glowing tan or have just returned from a vigorous workout (the healthy flush without the sweatiness – perfect!).
A touch of magic – soft silvery eyes: Another new trend is a pale silvery eye, giving a kind of ethereal feel. On the runway there were a variety of applications, some covering only the lid and others taking the delicate color up onto the brow as well. If you think moonlight hues are for you, then try a very pale silver and/or white with some shimmer and blend.
A look that commands attention – bold brows: For those looking for a trend with a bit more impact, the strong brow look may be for you. This is a great time for those with a naturally thick brow to go a bit easier on the plucking. Obviously, you still have to keep things shaped and the current look has a definite arch. Some of the runway looks are a bit extreme, but you can create a natural yet controlled bold brow by gently brushing your brows up and filling them in a bit.
Play around with the trends that appeal most to you. It’s all about picking something you like and experimenting until you get the version that works for your own personal style.
