No mirror? No problem! Put on your makeup perfectly, anywhere, anytime

I am always running late. Always. What can I say, I need to get that last few minutes of sleep in before work. There has been many a day where I’ve been relegated to applying my full face on the train during my work commute. I’m so awesome that  I can beat my face with no mirror while standing on a moving train. It may not be this complicated for you. But, I’m sure that at some point you’ve been in a precarious makeup position. Well, never again. With these tips, no one will ever be able to tell whether you had your makeup professionally applied or did it with your eyes closed.

Know your face. When you can’t see what you’re doing, the most important thing to rely on is your sense of touch. You’ve done your makeup enough times that you are familiar with the contours of your face. You have a general idea of what it feels like to apply blush to the right place and where eyeliner is supposed to go on your eyelid. Take a few seconds to reacquaint yourself with your face before putting on any products.

Choose your cosmetics wisely. Some women can apply the most dramatic makeup without looking, but let’s be honest – keeping it simple is the best way to be successful here. Using soft, neutral colors is the way  to avert disaster. Stick with rosy or nude lipstick, light eyeshadow and pencil eyeliner. Opt for cream eyeshadows like Maybelline Hour Color Tattoo 24 Hour Color. Tattoo shadows are great for busy women applying on the go. Colors like Tough as Taupe and Bold Gold are great staples to have in your cosmetic bag.  You can use dab with you your fingers for a sheer look or layer with a travel size shadow brush are an opaque color payoff.

Bright lips, liquid eyeliner and other cosmetics that require more complicated application can easily get messy. Save those for a bathroom touch-up. On the days where beating your face is not accompanied by your full vanity, opt for a pressed powder foundation instead of its liquid or cream counterpart. Unless of course you want to walk around your office with foundation spots all over your fave Michael Kors blazer.

Of course, you can also go truly au naturale and skip makeup altogether – your natural beauty will shine no matter what is on your face!  But, that’s not quite how I roll.
