Refresh your skin with these homemade face masks

The snow is long gone, we’ve put away our hats, gloves and bulky coats – spring is here! Rejoice! Rejoice! But is your skin still stuck in the dryness of winter? Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth so what better time to give your skin new life? Here are four at-home suggestions for masks that will help make your skin come to life!

Wear Your White Mask (Egg White)

Egg white can help clarify and tighten the skin. Here is what you do. Separate the egg white from the egg yolk. In a bowl, beat the egg white till frothy but you aren’t making a lemon meringue pie.) Then apply to a clean face and allow to fully dry.  Let this mask sit for about 10-20 minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water. Your skin should be instantly refreshed!

Springy Yellow Mask (honey+egg yolk)

If you tried the above mask, then you have egg yolk to use up. In a small bowl, mix the egg yolk and one tablespoon of organic honey. Mix together until the concoction is yellow in shade. Wash your face with warm water to open your pores, and then apply the mask. Leave the mixture on your face for around 15 minutes before rinsing your face. This mask will purify, moisturize, cleanse the pores and nourish your skin.

Breakfast For Your Skin Mask (Oatmeal+Honey+Sea Salt)

Cook a ¼ cup of oatmeal with ¾ cup of water and let cool. Add 2 tablespoons of organic honey, 1 tablespoon aloe vera juice (straight from the plant if you can), juice of freshly squeezed lemon and 1 tablespoon sea salt. Mix everything  together and apply to freshly cleansed face. Leave on for 15-20 minutes.

What does this mask do? Oatmeal purifies and provides moisture, honey acts an antioxidant and will help moisturize skin, aloe vera is a natural acne fighter (who doesn’t want that?), lemon juice can help with tightening the skin, overall skin tone and help remove oils and germs from skin and sea salt contains minerals which will help nourish the skin while removing impurities from the skin so new skin can grow.

Have Your Pie and Wear It Too (Apple+Honey)

Ever think about wearing an apple? Well, if you haven’t, now you can! Apples contain Vitamins A, B and C plus antioxidants and with honey also an antioxidant containing many other nutrients, your skin will spring clean in no time! Grate a medium pored and unpeeled apple (any variety will do.) Add 2 tablespoons of organic honey to your prepared apple. Mix well and apply to freshly cleansed face. Leave on for about 10 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water.
