It’s obvious to anyone who takes a look into my makeup drawer that I’m not one to pass up a beauty bargain. Even if I own three other nearly identical shades of peachy pink, I just need that $2.99 blush. Due to this drugstore makeup addiction, I’ve discovered some really amazing and affordable eyeshadows. Let me share them with you!
Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Singles: These little shadow single packs quite a punch at 2 dollars. The quality is pretty amazing– they are extremely blend-able and buttery, sometimes performing better than their high-end competitors. Wet n Wild is no longer a brand that supplies crappy eye liner and glittery blush to tweens; the company has really stepped up its’ game by greatly improving the over all quality of their products while maintaining the insanely low price tags. It’s also worth mentioning that many of the Color Icon Singles are great dupes for MAC shadows. Nutty ,my all time fave Wet N Wild shadow, is comparable to MAC Satin Taupe (and much cheaper!). Brulee is also a dupe for MAC’s Brule (and their names are quite similar as well.)
ELF Moondust: It’s no secret that e.l.f. creates products that offer a super big bang for your buck, and Moondust is no different. For only one dollar, you will get a beautiful taupe color flecked with and almost red glitter. This one is truly unique, and not just for the drugstore. I compared it to both MAC Satin Taupe and Wet n Wild Nutty but there is just something really special about e.l.f.’s take on taupe. The only thing that might not appeal to some people is the packaging, or the lack of it. The e.l.f. Essential Custom Eye shades come in little plastic disposable containers, which isn’t surprising when you are only paying a dollar for it. If you don’t want to keep your e.l.f. shades in the flimsy plastic it comes in, e.l.f. offers another fabulous product: the e.l.f. Essential Custom Compact allows you to build your own little palette for only $1 (yes, only a dollar.) Even better? Not only will your e.l.f. shadows fit, but you can take out the lining off the palette and put in other eyeshadows from MAC, Urban Decay, ect.
Wet n Wild Color Icon Collection in Comfort Zone: I just had to mention this palette in this post because it might be one of my favorite products ever. For fewer than 5 bucks, you will receive eight gorgeous, buttery colors. And the best part? Every single shadow is a dupe for an expensive MAC eyeshadow! It doesn’t get much better than that, especially when you are a college student on a budget who also has a voracious appetite for makeup. If you buy this palette, you will own shades very similar to MAC’s Patina, Vex, Greensmoke, Romp, Amber Lights, Club and more. Go out and get this palette- you won’t regret it!
