Healthy ways to spice up your sex life

Are you looking for a healthy way to spice things up in the bedroom? Well, you’re in luck because there are some new superfoods on the healthy food scene and they’re making quite the name for themselves.  Healthy foodies everywhere are stocking their shelves and loading up their smoothies with quebracho blanco and maca. And not just to help them get through their workouts.

Quebracho blanco and maca are root plants known to increase stamina, energy and sexual function. These herbal supplements can not only help you get through your workouts, but help you in the bedroom as well!

Quebracho blanco has been used for generations to improve sex drive among both men and women in South America. It is made from the bark of an evergreen tree native to the forests of Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil – and is so effective as a traditional medicine that it is used as a prescription drug for sexual dysfunction in some countries. The primary function of this traditional herb is to increase  bloodflow throughout the body and increase libido.

Peruvian women have long attested to Maca’s super powers in the bedroom.  They’ve been using it for years to help with fertility, increase libido, and to treat PMS and menopausal symptoms. A study published in the Asian Journal of Andrology has shown that Maca increases libido.  Over a period of 3 months, researchers gave maca to volunteers. They found that the herb not only increased libido a whopping 180 to 200%, but increased the production of sperm cells, improved hormonal balance and testosterone level, and decreased impotency and erectile dysfunctions.  Want to try a modicum of Maca for yourself (or give it to your man)? Start with one tablespoon of the organic root powder in your morning smoothie or oatmeal bumping it up to two tablespoons after a couple weeks.

If herbal supplements aren’t your thing, you can boost your mood in the bedroom naturally.  Apples reduce cholesterol and improve blood flow. Plus, they contain phenylalanine, an amino acid that increases the production of endorphins, the same brain chemicals that fuel sexual arousal.  Celery contains small amounts of a hormone called androsterone, a pheromone released by men’s sweat glands that attracts females. The sexy cucumber also contains this hormone in it’s scent, once again, increasing blood flow to the genitals.  I can’t think of a better reason to eat a salad!
