3 Summer Lip Colors We Love

When it comes to hot summer months, I prefer to lighten up on the makeup. I replace foundation and powder use with a good tinted moisturizer and try to keep things minimal. After all, who really wants to be caught sweating their makeup off their face? That’s so not a cute look.

But when you’re keeping things minimal, one area not to skimp on is a little lip color! It’s a great way to play with your makeup and get that perfect sun-kissed look without looking like you’ve overdone your face. Here are a few of my favorite picks for summer lip color that you’ll just love.

Yves Saint Laurent “Rouge Volupté” Sheer Candy Glossy Balm

I’m not a huge fan of lipstick, but I can appreciate a good balm which is why the Yves Saint Laurent “Rouge Volupté” Sheer Candy Glossy Balm is a great summer pick. It’s not quite a lipstick yet not as glossy as a lip gloss and goes on with a creamy smooth finish. And, it’s even packed with vitamins and antioxidants to benefit that pretty pout. Tangy Mandarine is my summer color of choice, but there’s 10 other colors to choose from if you’re looking for something a that’s just a bit more sheer.

MAC Reel Sexy

This summer, MAC Cosmetics unveiled four new lipstick shades that are so on trend, they’re all absolutely delish. There’s Reel Sexy, a punchy coral color that’s fresh and fabulous; Watch Me Shimmer, a tangerine-ish shade that looks great with minimal makeup; Pink Popcorn, a purple shade for those that want to be daring this summer and Heroine, a bright violet that’s electrifying. No matter what shade you’re drawn to, you can’t go wrong with any from this collection. And at just $14.50, they won’t break the bank.

NYC Kiss Gloss

Sometimes, instead of reaching for a lipcolor I’ll make my own with a bit of blush or bronzer. It’s a great way to match the color to your cheeks, and once applying, all it needs is a boost of shine. That’s when I grab a tube of NYC Kiss Gloss, an ooey-gooey clear lip gloss that adds extreme shine. Mixed with a bit of blush, you’ll get the exact shade and shine you want. Plus, it’s a fabulous drugstore beauty buy at under $3 a tube. If you do want your gloss with a bit of built-in color, there’s nine other shades to choose from.
