No matter how rich, fashionable or gorgeous a woman may be, chances are she’s got some insecurities. For many of us, that insecurity is a face full of clogged pores . . . I know. Gross.
How do our pores get so clogged in the first place? Well, the oils in your face pull in the dead skin cells (which your skin sheds daily during its regeneration process) along with any lingering dirt. This creates a plug that clogs your pores and causes unhealthy-looking skin.
Let’s face it, after a long hectic day at work we barely have enough energy to drag ourselves to the nearest bar for happy hour, let alone complete a full skin care regimen when we finally get home. Unfortunately, omitting proper skincare from your beauty process will eventually leave you with unhealthy looking skin and feeling like anything but a beauty queen. Without taking these measures, your pores will enlarge and become a breeding ground for everyday germs, dirt, oil and buildup of dead cells. And all that? Causes blackheads.
Alas, there is help! Here are seven easy steps to a perfect pore cleansing routine. A quick at-home facial will not only improve your skin quality, but it will also help you save on those ridiculous spa prices. You can save the money for something better – like that new handbag you’ve been eyeing!
Step 1: Cleanse - Make sure you wash off all your makeup first. Then massage your favorite cleanser or all natural facial soap in upward circular motions. This step is important because it washes away everyday germs, dirt and oil so they won’t build up in your pores.
Step 2: Exfoliate – Exfoliating is the key to flawless skin. Repeat my mantra. Don’t scrub -Massage! You also want to stay away from any exfoliators that have really large, abrasive beads. These tend to rip your pores and make them appear even bigger. Use a gentle exfoliant or microdermabrasion instead to clean out pores, facilitate cell turnover and restore a youthful looking glow.
Step 3: Steam - Applying steam to your face will help open up all your pores so you can clean them more thoroughly. Boil a bowl of water and hold your face over it with a towel covering your head, or use a hot damp towel and place it on your face for five minutes.
Step 4: Apply a Mask - Leave on for about 5-10 minutes, or until the mask is completely dry. Repeat this step only 3-4 times a week in order not to irritate skin. We love the Origins Clear Improvement charcoal mask. It really pulls out the gross debris that clogs the pores. If you want a DIY friendly option you can do an egg white mask. Take one egg and separate the yolk from the white. Whip the egg white until it is frothy. Then use a clean foundation brush or even your fingers to apply all over your face. Allow it to dry for 10 minutes. Wash the mask off with lukewarm water.
Step 5: Toner – Now it’s time for a toner. A quality toner helps balance your skin’s pH level and helps tighten enlarged pores. It also helps replenishes the necessary vitamins you may have washed away during the exfoliation process.
Step 6: Moisturize - Apply moisturizer immediately after toner when your skin is still moist. This will help lock in extra moisture and help your skin remain hydrated and supple. Your skin will appear more even and healthy at first use!
Step 7: Finish - For a flawless looking finished complexion, apply a lightweight pore minimizer to help minimize appearance of pores. Instead of using your normal heavy foundation, opt for a product like Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20 Face that uses light reflecting pigments that detract from the look of any unsightly pores.Related
