Does Your Hair Look Summer Stressed?

The lazy, hazy days of summer are officially underway and we’re seeing the summer-stressed hair to prove it! It’s not too early in the season to be looking for help for your thirsty locks. Sooner IS better than later when it comes to stopping further damage to your hair.

It’s always easier to spot faded hair color or dry, damaged hair on others . . . don’t you think?  Don’t you see it in your sun loving, bathing beauty family and friends? These tell-tale signs of summer sun-stressed hair are apparent on others, but maybe not so much on ourselves . . . c’est la vie!

But, if you jump-on-it early, you can save your strands from dying a horrible death, or maybe a little less dramatic, from washing you out. It doesn’t take much of your time for the payoff it gives . . . seriously!

You can DIY this at home, or for a bit more money but ‘me pampering time,’ you can take it to the salon, kick back and dream about whatever you fancy. Whatever your choice, my guess is if you’re reading this you need to do it!

Seems like summer’s just begun but:

Get rid of any product build-up on the hair by using a clarifying shampoo. One shampoo may not be enough to get rid of extensive product build-up. You can shampoo twice with a clarifying shampoo.

Assess what your hair really needs. Try the elasticity test. With a wet strand of hair wrapped around your fingers, gently pull. Healthy hair can stretch up to half its length and still spring back. If the hair snaps easily it indicates that it lacks moisture. If the hair stretches and stretches like gum that indicates it needs protein.

Protein Treatment. I like Graham Webb Silk Repair Thermacore Therapy. This is an awesome product when applied to the hair, covered with a bag and put under a dryer for 15 minutes. It will leave your hair shiny, healthy and full of body.

Deep Moisturizing Treatment. Right now I’m loving, Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque. Although this doesn’t require heat to give your hair a great make-over, it does wonders for dry, dull hair when covered and heat is added for 10 to 15 minutes.

If you use the routine above of clarifying followed by a treatment, even for a couple short weeks, you’ll see a HUGE difference in the health, shine and body of your hair!
