Remove makeup, exfoliate, wash, dry, massage, tone, moisturize, de-wrinkle – there are so many steps to a skincare regimen these days, but honestly, who has the time? While it’s important to treat your skin well (after all, it is your biggest organ and plays a pretty big part in your overall appearance) there are times when you probably wish there was a shortcut to healthy, glowing skin.
Good news! While taking shortcuts all the time will probably not give you the best overall effect on your skin, there are a few time-saving tricks that could shave a serious amount of time and effort off your beauty regimen. Here are some ideas to try.
Cut out: Makeup remover
You probably typically choose a face wash based on your skin condition – whether it’s dry, oily or acne-prone. This is usually a good idea, but if you can, choose one that is also gentle enough for use around the eyes. Assuming you don’t wear gobs of eye makeup to work every day, a gentle facewash will remove your your everyday eye makeup while also cleansing your skin. Try Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser or Hydroxatone’s Gentle Milky Cleanser.
Cut out: Exfoliant
If exfoliating is a part of your daily or weekly routine, you can cut it out by washing your face with a wash cloth regularly. Wash cloths offer a super easy and gentle way to exfoliate your skin, reducing the need to buy a separate product that may or may not work with your skin. It also reduces the step it might take to exfoliate with a different product, and instead offers a regular, gentle scrub down to get the dead, dull skin off your face. You probably already have this old-school tool in your linen closet!
Cut out: Wrinkle serum and toner
It’s a good idea to have specialized products for wrinkles and use them regularly for the best results, but in a pinch, having a multi-tasking night cream is a good way to save time and energy. Using a cream that has wrinkle-reducing properties and provides the ultimate moisturization overnight is your best bet.
Also, you can skip toner in a pinch, as long as your face is not super oily.
Remember, finding creative ways to trim down your beauty regimen is always good, but never compromise the health of your skin!
