Ditch the (under-eye) baggage!

We’ve all got baggage, and what to keep and what to ditch is pretty subjective. But I think we can all agree that the bags under our eyes would not be missed. Before you can get rid of these bags, it’s important to understand what is causing them.

Genetics, age and seasonal allergies all play a role in under-eye bags. Your genes play the biggest role – if your dear old mom or dad passed fair or thin skin under the eyes down to you, it will be more obvious when blood pools there. This happens naturally when you have slower circulation, something that is caused by lack of sleep. However, if you have thin skin there, it will show – darkly. The accumulation of blood in this area causes the capillaries to stretch and leak, much like a bruise.

Age is another major factor because over time, the skin loses collagen and thins, which makes it more transparent, thus making your veins more visible. Allergies trigger the release of histamines in your body, which then causes your blood vessels to inflame. The result is swollen bags. Bummer!

Although there are specialized treatments for each cause of under-eye bags, you can start with an advanced eye cream like Hydrolyze Advanced Under Eye Formula, which works to reduce inflammation (read: puff) and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. It also contains a special mixture of yeast and botanical extracts to strengthen capillaries and promote healthy microcirculation, to prevent more bags later on!
