Create your favorite spa treatments at home – without breaking the bank!

Let’s face it, going to a spa all day and getting pampered is an experience every woman should be treated to – but who can afford to go all the time? You don’t want your skin to suffer just because you can’t dish out the cash for the spa treatments.

Next time you go to the store, you may want to pick up a few more items to create a relaxing experience at home. Here are a few easy-to-make facial and body treatments – and don’t forget the soothing music and scented candles to get the full spa effect!

Oranges and avocados are not just for eating

Many of you may be scratching your heads thinking about what an orange can do for your skin. Sure, you’ve seen cucumbers used on eyes on those spa ads that look oh-so-relaxing, but what will oranges do? Well, these delicious fruits also double as an amazing exfoliator. Just cut fresh oranges in half to get rid of the stubborn dry skin on your heels, knees and elbows.

Avocados may make your favorite guacamole, but you will love them even more when you realize what a great moisturizer they can be. Wait until the fruit is ripe, then mash the soft, inner fruit and apply like a mask on your face and wait for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and see that dry, sun-exposed skin get the moisture it needs.

Going to the grocery store? Don’t forget the oatmeal!

Ready for some amazing and easy creations that deliver even better results? You’ll need oatmeal, vinegar, honey, mayonnaise, egg and almond oil to make these all-natural spa concoctions.

Creating a basic oatmeal mask will have you feeling fresh and ready for the day. Simply mix together a half cup of cooked oatmeal, one egg, and one tablespoon of almond oil. Spread the mixture on your face, leave for 15 minutes and you are good to go.

Need some nourishment for your hair? Combine honey, mayonnaise and egg for a stellar hair conditioner. Vinegar can also be used to add a bit of shine to your hair – just rinse your tresses in it every once in awhile.

Scrub your body, tone your muscles and energize yourself

The ubtan scrub requires a few ingredients you might have to make a special trip out for, but it is well worth it. This amazing cleansing paste can help tone slack muscles as well as improve circulation. To create this super-scrub, you need a large bowl. Combine one cup of either oat or chickpea flour, half a teaspoon of ground turmeric, two tablespoons of both ground mustard and crushed fresh coriander leaves, three tablespoons of rose water, one cup of orange juice and a half of cup of water. Stir the stellar concoction together and apply to body and face, rinse with warm water and enjoy brighter skin and a toned appearance to your muscles.

If you are one of the many women out there who isn’t ready for social interaction  before a morning coffee, you may benefit from a wake-up scrub. Combine a quarter of a cup of olive oil, one teaspoon pure vanilla extract, one cup pure turbinado sugar, 15 drops peppermint essential oil (Mentha piperita) and one half cup used coffee grounds from a freshly brewed pot. Wake up to this DYI spa treatment when you step into your shower the following day. Now only will you be more awake, but your skin will be its smoothest yet!
