Indulge your sweet cravings with an ice cream inspired palette

For a lot of people, hot weather provides the perfect excuse to indulge in some sweet, frosty treats. I for one have never allowed the weather to dictate my ice cream impulses; I pretty much let them run rampant all year round. Of course, there are others (crazy bastards) who feel the need to completely squash their ice cream cravings. While I have nothing in common with this bunch I’m here to offer an alternative. You see, summer is not only an ideal time to eat ice cream; it’s also the perfect time to wear it. No, I’m not talking about the inevitable melty drip. I’m referring to the fabulous ice cream shop colors that are so popular at this time of year.

I love makeup and ice cream, so my vote is to treat yourself to both, but whichever you choose you’ll be having a lot of fun. So if you want to try an ice cream inspired face, give one or more of these indulgent products a try:

Ice cream colors tend to be creamy and pastel or over-the-top lively and bright. Nails are a great place to test out some of these shades. There are plenty of ice creamy choices in the polish department, but here are a few to get you started. Essie polish in Pilates Hottie, Sephora Collection nail lacquer in Teeny Bikini  and Illamasqua nail varnish in Blow are the epitome of creamy pastel prettiness. For those who prefer the brights, Sephora by O.P.I.’s Scentsational Six Fruit-Scented Nail Lacquers will give you a pop of color and a sweet scent. And what’s a sundae without sprinkles? Nails inc. London’s Special Effects Sprinkles Nail Polish in Sweets Away adds the perfect topping.

For eyes you can go with a neutral ice cream favorite like Clinique Color Surge Eye Shadow Duo in Butter Pecan or a dreamy pastel like Benefit Velvet Eyeshadow in Bo Peep or Fancy Pansy. Cheeks will benefit from a wash of Dior Blush in Strawberry Sorbets and faces can be warmed up with a few swipes of Too Faced Chocolate Soleil or Milk Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder.

For lips there are a ton of options including the luscious sounding Philosophy Marshmallow Cone Lip Shine to add a little shimmer and glow, Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Cream in Creamsicle for a plump and gleaming pout or you can top off your whole look with a cherry (in the form of Bite Beauty Lush Lip Tint in Cherry).
