Sure, it would be nice to have that perfectly bronzed summer glow all the time. Unfortunately, sitting out in the sun isn’t really an option now that it’s fall and all. Luckily there are lots of great choices for faking it. Bronzers, I am told, are a wonderful way to add some instant summer radiance without the risk of the sun or the commitment (and possible application mistakes) of self-tanner. Even though I have experimented extensively with self-tanner I am, as of right now, a bronzer virgin, but I am considering giving it up if I can find one that seems worthy. I have to be selective – I am a 30-something year old bronzer virgin after all!
As I’ve made reference to before, I‘m quite content to embrace my pastiness most of the year, but when summer rolls around I start itching for a way to make my skin less blinding. It’s no fun burning people’s retinas as they pass by on the street. Anyways, I’ve started browsing this year’s collection of bronzers and there looks to be some contenders. Here are a few I’m considering:
This all in one product reportedly primes, moisturizes, brightens and bronzes. It is also said to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and control oil. What more could a girl ask for? This would certainly make my summer routine faster.
Benefit calls this one, “liquid sunshine in a bottle”. I love liquid and gel formulations in my blush and highlighters, so I think that this bronzer is one I might like. Plus, with a liquid formula I could start out slow by mixing a bit into my foundation. The color is described as being golden bronze and the swatch that they show on the site looks subtle, not scary orange or brown – definitely a possibility.
The claims for this bronzer are pretty amazing. It’s said to sense your skin’s pH level and adjust to the perfect shade for your skin tone. It’s also supposed to adjust to look perfect in both natural and artificial light – pretty appealing to someone like me who’s worried about looking streaky and fake. It also comes in two shades.
I have the blush version of this product and love it. The gel formula blends seamlessly and gives me a natural looking flush. I’ve read good things about the bronzer version too, and am curious if it would work as well for me.
So that’s my list of possibilities. If I give one a chance, hopefully it lives up to my expectations.
Do you have any suggestions for me? What’s your favorite summer face bronzer?
