Just because summer is over (tear) and you don’t have to worry about how you look in a swimsuit, it doesn’t mean you should let your waistline go. We want to strive to be healthy all year long. With that said, here are a few sweet treats that may satisfy that craving that never seems to go away, without the hefty calorie load.
Broiled Mangos
This delicious treat is so simple and satisfying. All you do is cut up a mango, squeeze a little bit of lime juice on top and throw it in the broiler for about 10 minutes. Cooking a mango brings out its natural sweetness, and with no fat, you can treat yourself to these on a regular basis. Not to mention mangos have loads of vitamin C and 15 percent of your daily vitamin A. Hooray for this wondrous fruit!
Greek Frozen Yogurt
The dairy section at the grocery store has been bombarded with Greek yogurt in the past couple years, mostly because of its high protein content, low amount of carbohydrates, low sodium and low sugar value in comparison to regular yogurt.
It’s only natural the treat would be frozen and served as a cooling summer dessert. The be-all-end-all ice cream maker, Ben & Jerry’s, has launched its line of Greek yogurt this year as a healthier alternative to their fat-totting – but delicious – Chunky Monkey.
Ice Cream Without the Cream
We adore this dairy-, sugar- and cholesterol-free Mint Chip Ice Cream!
Raspberry Sorbet
When making or buying sorbet, opt for delicious, nutritious and colorful raspberry. It’s simple to make and even more simple to buy, and the cooling, fruity treat will satiate your sweet tooth.
To make it, all you need is sugar, water, raspberries (or another choice of fruit) and lemon juice. The calorie intake generally clocks in between 100 and 200 per serving, and cools you down on a hot summer day…without any guilt.
