There are certain things you can make yourself – bread, drain cleaner and pillows, for instance – then there are others that should be left to the professionals – perhaps items like computers and furniture. I would have also grouped skincare products and makeup into the latter category, but there are some DIY makeup tricks that even the scientifically challenged among us could pull off.
Head to the kitchen for a few natural solutions to your beauty needs. Looking for a little bronzer? Test out some cinnamon, nutmeg or cocoa powder (or mix these together) on your hand to see if you can get a hue that flatters you.
If you thought you needed a loose powder to get a perfectly matte finish on your makeup, you haven’t stuck your kabuki brush in a bag of cornstarch! Dust a very thin layer over your makeup (or in oily problem areas like your T-zone) to wick up moisture and get that photo finish to your face.
Lip color is another easy DIY – mix some Kool-Aid with petroleum jelly for a flavored lip gloss, or dab beet juice on your lips for a long-lasting stain. Always test out the colors at home before wearing them out!
