December is here, which means it’s holiday party season! Stumped for ideas on what to do with that hair of yours to make it look a little more special than normal? Don’t fret, we’ve got three holiday hairstyle ideas for you to try.
Try a Hair Accessory
If (like me) you’re more a of a low maintenance hairstyle kind of girl, try adding something simple to your normal ‘do with a pretty hair accessory. From floral, jeweled and embellished to sequin and feather headbands and pins, there are plenty of pretty pieces to choose from this season. You can easily incorporate a headband or hair pin into a simple, down hairstyle. If you are going to a dressier event, use them with a half up half down hairstyle or updo. When wearing a super sparkly hair adornment, be sure to tone down the rest of your jewelry so that your hair piece can really make the statement.
Do a Low Chignon
The chignon is a great go-to holiday hairstyle since it’s relatively easy to achieve and always looks classy. To get this look, go to the beauty supply store and buy a chignon foundation, also known as a hair bun donut. Something like this Hair Stylers Mesh Chignon is what you’re looking for and they’re typically available in a variety of colors to best match your hair.
Pull hair back into a mid or low ponytail and pull your ponytail through the chignon foundation so that it’s now touching your head. Use one hand to hold it in place and the other to wrap your hair around the foundation. Once your hair is completely covering the bun, use another ponytail holder to secure the donut in place. Finish by bobby pinning stray hairs into place and with a spritz of hairspray! This tool can also be used for the “Top Knot” hairstyle; just repeat the steps above but start with a high ponytail, instead.
Curl it Up
Some waves are an easy way to add a little bit of glam to your everyday look. And, it’s a fun and sassy look, too. If you’re not exactly a hair curling pro, this is where a set of hot rollers become your best friend. Just like with a curling iron, the bigger the roller is, the looser your wave will be. If you’re just looking for volume, try the T3 Voluminous Hot Rollers Set. A variety of sizes is great for waves and volume, like with this Hot Tools Hairsetter with 20 Flocked Rollers.
