From office to holiday party… easy tips

It’s that time of year again when holiday parties are in full swing! While it’s always fun to be festive, sometimes you’ll be jetting straight from work to the evening’s soiree. Especially if the party in question is the big office Christmas party. If you’re in need of getting ready in a flash and don’t exactly have the time for a full face makeover, try these tips so you’ll be ready in no time.

Prep in Advance

First thing’s first, remember that your getting ready for that nighttime party will actually start in the morning. If you normally are a loose powder kind of girl, start your morning off with a long-wearing foundation. You’ll want some more coverage than usual so that you don’t have to start from scratch in the afternoon and that will take you right into the evening. Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation with SPF 15 is a great one to try. MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation SPF 15 is also a good long-wearing formula and leaves behind a matte finish.

Prep your eyelids for long-lasting wear too by using an eyeshadow primer like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. It’s a great product to try if your lids are somewhat oily as well as it’ll help keep your eyeliner and shadow in place all day, and all night long. Just like a normal primer, apply before your normal makeup.

Touch Up

Since you won’t have time to do a full face of new makeup, you’ll want to concentrate on touching up just a few things: lips, eyes and your cheeks. Blush is one of those makeup items that becomes less vibrant throughout the day so be sure to quickly dust on a bit of color to rosy up those cheeks. Sephora Collection Classic Retractable Travel Brush #52 hides easily in your cosmetic bag for quick application.

For your pout, take things up a notch and go for a bold red. Use some lip liner to prevent the color from running and help ensure it lasts through the evening.

If your foundation needs a bit of a touch up, dust on some loose powder. First, prep your skin by blotting away any oil with some oil blotting sheets. Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets are great ones to try and budget-friendly, too. Next, refresh your skin with a facial mist. La Mer The Mist is a true luxury and helps hydrate and revive the skin. This will not only refresh and revive you but help prevent dryness or possible cracking. Don’t apply foundation again as this will just look cakey; instead try a little bit of loose powder. Clinique Blended Face Powder is light enough to layer over foundation for a bit of extra coverage. Plus, it comes with a retractable brush that makes it convenient for purse stashing.

Lastly, touch up those eyes! Hopefully, you’ve started the day with some neutral-toned eyeshadows which provide a good base for some layering. Too Faced Smokey Eye Palette has all the colors and brushes you’ll need for a glamorous, evening look. If you prefer browns instead try Sephora Collection Moonshadow Baked Palette In the Nude. Swipe on some eyeliner and touch up your brows to finish the look.
