If you’re anything like me, you like taking as few items as possible with you on a run. I usually bring $20 cash, if that.
While reading blogs a few years ago I read a blog post about a woman named Lindsay who was on a bike ride when she flew headfirst over the handlebars, landing on her face on the asphalt. She woke up in the ER with a broken jar and shattered teeth, only to find out the doctors and nurses would not treat her without proof of insurance. She had to wait for 20 minutes in terrible pain without any medication before locating her insurance information.
I read this story and promptly ordered myself a RoadID.
The RoadID is an identification item that you keep on you while you’re exercising outdoors. It’s available as a bracelet, dog tag necklace, ankle bracelet, shoe pouch or, my personal favorite, Shoe ID that remains attached to your shoelace.
All RoadIDs contain reflective stripes to help your visibility in the dark, and they come with a metal plate that you can engrave with your personal information. On mine, I have my full name, location, date of birth, emergency contact names and phone numbers and health insurance information. You can also include a personal quote or mantra for inspiration!
I keep my Shoe ID attached to my sneaker shoelace at all times so I never forget to take it with me on a run. I feel a lot safer knowing my loved ones can be contacted in the event of an emergency, and knowing that the hospital would be able to treat me.
In the event of an emergency, having a RoadID could potentially save your life.
There are so many horror stories out there that it is imperative you never leave your home without identification! The RoadID makes it easy to go about your workout routine without worrying about taking your license and insurance card with you on every run.
