Magical multi-purpose skin solutions

I love my multi-purpose house cleaner – I can scrub down the kitchen counters and the shower walls and still have some left over to tackle surfaces in the living room, but this isn’t about my transformation into a mean lean cleaning machine on the weekends. This is about my love of multi-purpose everything – including skincare products.

As many financially savvy ladies like myself know, finding multiple uses for one item is a great way to stretch a dollar, and since I multi-task so much, I expect my skincare products to do the same! Although these may not be labeled “multi-purpose,” here are the skincare items I keep stocked for a number of uses!

Aquaphor
I am proud to say I share a love for this drugstore staple with Beyonce. The new mom recently revealed to People Magazine that she uses Aquaphor for everything – from removing eye makeup to soothing chapped lips. I also smear this magical ointment on my feet before bed and put socks on – my tootsies are perfectly soft in the morning! Basically, any type of abrasion can be solved with Aquaphor. At less than $5, it’s a totally affordable beauty go-to.

Heal Everything Balm
That familiar sting from shaving, waxing or other skin irritation is something I haven’t been familiar with for some time, thanks to my old standby, Miracle Skin Transformer Heal Everything Balm. This amazing healing ointment is similar to Aquaphor, but I like the way it offers instant relief to my worst skin woes.

It has more than 30 moisturizers and emollients that promote the skin’s own natural reparation process, which makes it a perfect option after those occasional sunburns and dry winter skin. It’s also a great solution for irritation from waxing, shaving, burns or even bug bites!

Witch hazel
This isn’t a particular product (although I typically choose T.N. Dickinson’s All Natural Astringent For Face and Body, available at drugstores for less than $5), but I have come to rely on anything made with witch hazel for a variety of skin issues.

I first discovered it as a spot treatment solution for my acne in high school, then used it on my babies when they had diaper rash. Now, I love the way it has the power to shrink up my under-eye baggage. That’s right, I dab hemorrhoid cream under my eyes, because the magic ingredient, witch hazel, tightens the skin and reduces the appearance of the bags under my eyes.
