For whatever reason, a lot of women are quite terrified at the thought of wearing evening makeup. Starlets with caked-on makeup, dripping eye makeup and tangled tresses is probably what comes to mind. But looking hot for a night out doesn’t mean looking like a hot mess! There are many ways you can take your daytime makeup look to night, without looking like a unfabulous Drag Queen. Here are a few quick and easy ways you can kick things up a notch.
Personally, I don’t make it a habit to wear foundation every day. A little bit of loose powder or some tinted moisturizer is typically all of the coverage I need. For an evening look, however, I like to step things up a notch and reach for some foundation. The reason being is that at night, you’ll need to apply just a bit more makeup than during the daytime, and it’s great for showing off a flawless face in photos, too. Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 is one of my go-to favorites. It comes in 15 different shades and works with virtually every skin type.
The quickest and most noticeable way to take your makeup from day to night is to spice up your eyeshadow. Sheer, soft colors are great for the day, but a smokey eye look is always sexy for evening. Right now, I’m obsessed with Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette, which has 12 gorgeous colors that are perfect for day to night looks and layering. You can use the neutral brown shades for the daytime and step things up a notch at night with the darker shades and metallic finishes. Extra mascara, false lashes and black eyeliner instead of soft browns are also a great way to intensify your eye makeup look. If you aren’t crazy about black eyeliner, try a brown liner in a liquid formula or, dip your eyeliner brush into a bit of water to intensify the color.
No one can resist a lady in red—especially when it comes to that pretty pout! I’m a lipgloss girl through and through but to instantly transform my look, I gravitate toward much more vibrant colors. They’re a quick and easy way to add a bit of va-va-voom to your look.
