A French manicure is always in style, and now that you’re done with the bright colors of summer, you might be leaning more toward this simple, sophisticated look for your nails. However, if you still want to have a little fun with your French, there are ways to jazz it up while still sticking with the classic style.
One way is to add a color at the tips instead of white. White obviously looks the most natural, but a bright color like pink or blue looks fun when the rest of your nail is a nude color. Black or navy are especially unexpected hues to use.
You could also switch up the base color, keeping the tips white. Opt for a warm coral for a natural-yet-autumnal look, or choose a trendy muted turquoise or gray.
If you really want to get funky, paint the tip into different shape! You can create a V or chevron shape by swiping polish diagonally across the tip of the nail from both sides, creating the point in the center. You can also take a mod approach to the French manicure by simply slanting the line across the tips. This is best when done with untraditional colors – otherwise it might look like you made a mistake. This look also elongates the nails visually.
