You spotted that gorgeous glittery eyeshadow at the store, and it looked just as glamorous on your lids as it did in the package. But now that your holiday party has come and gone, you’re likely hunched over your bathroom sink, wondering, “how the heck am I going to get this stuff off?!”
Glittery eye makeup may seem pretty when it’s on, but the process of taking it off is not so pretty – unless you have a technique. After you’ve finished scraping the stuff of your now-red and puffy eyelids, you will probably see glimmers of shine under your eyes or in your lashes for weeks. No more! Try this regimen.
Start with plain old eye makeup remover. Soak a cotton ball and hold it over your closed eyelid, without rubbing. This step will loosen up the makeup so it’s easier to wipe later. If you rub during this step, you’re just making an unnecessary mess. Once you’ve soaked the lid, take another clean cotton ball and apply lotion to it, then dab gently at your eyelid. Once you have removed most of the glitter, wipe the eyelid with the lotion-covered cotton ball to remove any remnants, then rinse your face with water.
If you still have specks, take a trusty piece of Scotch tape to the skin that still has glitter on it. As long as you still have some lotion or makeup remover in your eye area, the tape will only pick up glitter, not your outer layer of skin!
