6 ways to take your hairstyle from day to night

Our cultural pace is non-stop, when you leave the house in the morning there is a strong likelihood that you’re not going to be heading home until long after the sun sets. And if your plans call for meetings all day, followed by a date or after work drinks with friends, you probably don’t have a lot of time to change your look to match the mood. When your work day is winding down, a quick visit to the ladies room to primp and refresh may be all you need to go from corporate style to evening chic. There are so many simple hairstyles you can do that easily transition from day to night. Add a few simple styling aids to your purse, like a brush, some pins and some hair gloss. Then follow these simple steps and styles and you’ll be going from conference calls to cosmopolitan in no time.

Short Story

At the office: Style your short or pixie hairstyle with some shaping wax to add texture and control to the top of your hair

At the bar: Use the same styling wax to add volume to your strands by finger-tousling your layers. The texture will give your hair cocktail-hour appropriate sexiness

At the office: Put your hair into a high sleek topknot. It can be pulled taught or left slightly messy depending on how formal your organization is.

At the bar: Keep the bun! Tighten it up and slick back any loose strands. A high topknot or ballerina bun is sleek and sophisticated and looks just as sexy with a suit as it does with skinny jeans.

Half and Half

At the office: A very classic look, the half-up, half-down hairstyle can be worn with straight or wavy hair. Fasten a ponytail or up swept hair with a wood barrette to complete the look.

At the bar: Let the ponytail out and your hair will have more volume from being pulled back throughout the day. If you like the look, simply switch out the wood barette for a sparkly clip or cute bow.

Tighten Up

At the office: Style your wet hair into a tight braid for office hours. Work in some product prior to braiding so your hair will stay in place later.

At the bar: Let your hair out and marvel in the countless waves created by the braid! Add some gloss or shine spray to your hair before going out for added sex appeal.

Keep It Straight

At the office: If you typically wear your hair very straight, keep it down during the day. Use a smoothing product before work to reduce frizz and fly aways.

At the bar: Go from serious to sexy with a deep side part and a low ponytail. For even more glam factor, wrap a piece of hair around the hair tie and pin it underneath your hair.

Twist and Shout

At the office: Apply a leave-in conditioner to clean hair before twisting your locks into a low bun. Secure the knot with a pin or twisted clip.

At the bar: Take out the bun and flip your head over. Apply a shine serum to revitalize your hair and define the waves you may have from the bun.
