Fall is finally here to stay and HONEY, what I’m excited for more than the changing leaves, crisp air and snuggling under the blankets with a piping hot cup of cocoa is the FASHION, more importantly, the MAKEUP.
Fall is definitely my favorite season for fashion and makeup because cool weather is perfect for layers and dark colors. In the summer, you’re prone to take clothes off and wear minimal makeup because of the heat and humidity, but the cooler months draw you to more clothes, letting your style really shine through. Dark, vampy lip colors, smoky eyes in shades of brown and hints of charcoal and gold are all the rage this season and finding that perfect matte plum lip color is essential to instantly glamming up your fall wardrobe. To put it plainly, a dark lip is your staple and should be one of your main focuses this season.
What’s also really popular is the NEW red lip also known as black cherry lipstick . Dolce and Gabbana and Nars are just two companies that have hopped on this bandwagon but it’s a lovely one indeed, so you should get into it.
On the runway this season, fashion houses like Burberry traded in the usual dramatic shades of black and gray for tones of brown and taupe for their smoky eyes and they still made a nice impact. Grab an espresso colored pencil to trace your inner lash line and then a blush to blend in a brown shadow from the lash to the crease and voila, instant minimalist drama to an everyday face and outfit.
Know what else is really gorgeous this season? Jewel toned eye shadows. They are perfect for holidays when you make your rounds at family and friends homes. An emerald toned shadow like Zodiac from Urban Decay is sure make you the center of attention and deflect those annoying questions about when you’re going to get married.
I’m a huge huge huge fan of all things gold, so when I say I was excited about seeing fashion house Marchesa using gold accents all in her makeup looks on the runway, that’s not an understatement. Put some gold on those lids and cheeks (you’ll get a nice candlelit effect) this fall and sparkle.
