Do you have the winter blues already? Even if you don’t, your hair might. With the colder, drier air (plus the dry heat that most radiators and home heating systems create), your hair might seem more down in the dumps these days – that is, flat, thin and dull. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to bring your limp locks back to life!
Thanks to the hats, scarves and hoods we tend to layer on in the colder months, your hair may end up half its height by the time you make it to work in the morning – bad news for those of us with thin hair in the first place. To give it a boost, use a volumizing lift spray in the morning (and bring it with you for a touch up later in the day!)
The dry air and major static electricity that ensues tends to cause hair to fly away, split and frizz. The key to this is to use a shampoo and conditioner that will hydrate the hair and strengthen the cuticle, to keep moisture in and protect against further damage. This will smooth already-stressed hair and prevent it from happening throughout the season. It’s also a good idea to avoid heat styling throughout the chilly months, since these can damage the cuticle and cause even more frizz.
