Quick and easy hair tricks that will save you time

Unless you’re lucky enough to be rich and famous with a glam squad waiting to answer your every beck and call, a minor hairstyling mishap can turn into a major bad hair day if you’re pressed for time. Instead of waiting until you’re in need of damage control, make the most of your daily routine now by brushing up on these helpful time-saving hair tricks and quick-fixes.

If dull, limp hair is threatening to ruin your hairstyle, spray a generous amount of dry shampoo on your hair and fluff it with your fingers. When used occasionally, dry shampoo can give your hair a little extra body without the damaging effects of teasing. It also absorbs excess oils when you don’t have time to wash your hair.

If blow drying is leaving your hair puffy instead of flat, dry the top of your head first instead of starting at the nape. Leaving the top of your hair for last causes it to air-dry and become puffy. For best results, make sure you also dry from roots to ends, especially if you have long hair.

Swimming in the pool can be fun and relaxing, but it can also wreak havoc on your hair. The chlorine in pools can cause your hair to become dry, brittle and damaged. Before getting in the pool, wet your hair with water, and apply a generous amount of conditioner throughout your hair.

If you find yourself pressed for time with wet hair, use a microfiber towel. Microfiber towels absorb more water than regular towels and can cut your drying time in half.
Looking to add volume to your hair and slim your face? Add a deep part to one side of your hair before styling it.

If static has got your hair standing on ends, take a regular dryer sheet that you use for your laundry, and smooth it down your hair from roots to ends to eliminate static.

Going for the wavy look but don’t have time to curl your hair in the morning? Braid your damp hair in about 8-10 large braids before you go to sleep at night. In the morning, unravel each section with a little oil or shine serum, then spray your entire head with a light hairspray. Keep in mind that the smaller the braids are, and the longer you leave them in, the more defined the waves will be.

Gray roots starting to show when you’re least expecting them? Apply Clairol’s Nice ‘N Easy Root Touch-Up to your hair and get rid of the gray in less than 15 minutes.
