Have you ever purchased a lipstick because it boasted about its “stayability”, only to be disappointed shortly after you applied it? We’ve all been there. If you haven’t, just nod along anyway. Many cosmetic advertisements, lipsticks included, are simply misleading. Lucky for you, my job is to cut through the marketing BS and give you the low down on whether some well-advertised lipsticks actually hold up to their lofty claims.
Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick is super pigmented, creamy and weightless. It’s almost TOO good to be true. It goes on like a gloss but has the staying power of a stain. Stay All Day lasts for roughly 6-8 hours. I call that staying power! To remove this lipstick, it’s best to apply a little Vaseline or oil-based remover to get it all off .
You may not believe this, Wet ‘n Wild (yes, the drugstore brand) has great lipstick. My fave is Mega Last Lip Color. When I say this stuff does not move, I mean it. Plus, it retails for about 2 bucks. I would suggest applying a lip balm on beforehand, because it isn’t the most hydrating product, but a price point this low, go on and grab one or a few to try.
Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain & Balm is dual-ended pen that is so compact and easy to apply. The stain is light and matt, while the balm has a velvety texture. It’s beautiful upon application AND under 10 bucks. You really can’t lose with this one. The balm is super nourishing and I catch myself applying it by alone on days that I don’t wear the stain.
Lipstick is super fun, but not so much if you need to reapply it every twenty minutes, am I right? Try one or all these options on for size, and tell me what you think of them! What long wear lipsticks are you obsessed with? Let me know in the comments.
