Fitness for the perpetually busy woman

When your schedule is crazy because of work, kids, family, other responsibilities or all of these, finding time to work out and stay fit can be near impossible. But  you don’t need to rely on excuses to stay inactive, lethargic and unhappy. There are little things you can do throughout the day to keep yourself on your way to a healthy and happy lifestyle and body.

First, always have healthy food with you. If you’re working long hours or carpooling all over the place, it can be tempting to stop by a fast food drive-thru or live on vending machine food. However, if you have healthy snacks on hand, such as veggies, fruit or nuts, you can keep yourself in check. If you brink your snacks to work, you’ll be less likely to indulge on those donuts in the break room or stopping at a local Starbucks for a Venti-whatever. It is okay to have a treat every once in a while, but make sure it doesn’t become a bad habit that sabotages your goals.

Use social media to help guide you when you’re stuck. You may be stuck at work when you weren’t planning on it and have run out of snacks. You can easily find a nearby restaurant or cafeteria with the best options. It may not be perfect, but choosing a salad over French fries can help you. There are many Apps like HealthyOut that you can download that tell you the healthiest options at a variety of restaurants and fast food places so you won’t end up cheating on your healthy diet.

Schedule your workouts, but plan for the worst case scenario. Try to adjust your schedule to fit in a workout, but if things come up, do little things when you can to exercise. Whether it is taking a walk on your lunch break, squeezing in a few crunches and push-ups before bed or simply walking around while you talk on the phone at work, a little bit of exercise is better than no exercise at all.

Just remember to make your health a priority and do your best to eat right and exercise a little bit each day.
