If you have curly hair, you may have needed to spend a lot of time and money on taming your locks. Here are some tips and tricks you may not have tried that don’t cost a lot of time or cash.
If you’re into natural cleansing methods, try using soap as shampoo. However, make sure it is an all-natural soap and not a conventional brand or you might strip your hair of its natural oils. Try one great all-natural soap for your body and your hair. Ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, castor oil and amla oil are especially great for your hair.
Make your own creamy gel the next time you’re running out of your favorite gel. Mix your gel with leave-in conditioner to create a cream gel that will make your hair extra moisturized and help your gel last a little longer. You can add more conditioner or more gel to get the texture and feel you desire.
If your hair is prone to becoming dry and unruly, next time you’re in the shower, don’t rinse out all of your conditioner. Once you’ve applied your conditioner, stand under the water for five seconds then you’re done. Let the conditioner work as a leave-in cream for extra moisturized locks.
Another trick for leave-in conditioner is to use it as a type of dry shampoo. It will help revive your curls.
If you love your current conditioner, but wish it were a little bit thicker, add a half a tablespoon or a tablespoon of castor oil into your conditioner bottle and shake.
If you’re in the mood to make your own conditioning cleanser, you can do so very easily. Simply mix your shampoo and conditioner together and you can control the portions of each. Even if you make a conditioning cleanser, you should still condition it separately.
If you spend hours before bed sectioning and styling your hair so you can wake up and go, try putting your hair in a very high, very loose ponytail before you hit the hay. You’ll wake up with great curls. This is called pineappling.
If you want to deep condition your hair faster, apply conditioner before you hop into the shower and put on a shower cap. While washing and shaving, the warm or hot water will create a steam that will help your conditioner penetrate deeper and faster. When you’re done cleansing yourself, take off the shower cap and rinse out for amazingly soft hair.
