Indie Lee has the most amazing spirit, and organic outlook on life. She is also one of my favorite women, not to mention, my go to guru for DIY recipes. After conquering a life-threatening brain tumor that pointed to environmental toxins as the culprit, Indie Lee awoke on April 22, 2009 with a new lease on life and the passion to create a chic and eco-friendly namesake collection. This love and passion comes through is her skincare line. I asked her to share some simple tips to keep your skin looking great this fall, with my friends at Your Beauty Advisor. Here is what she had to say!
Karim Orange: Your skin’s moisture changes drastically from summer to fall can you share with us some tips?
Indie Lee: Oily skin responds great to squalane. Squalane Facial Oil Squalane is just one of those unique ingredients that “makes love, not war”, because our bodies already naturally produce it. Unfortunately Squalane in our bodies rapidly decreases after the age of about 25. Using squalane In the case of oily skin sends a signal to the sebaceous glands to stop over producing oil. Dry skin responds to this oil as well, but you might need to add a humectant that will bring much needed moisture to the skin. During the fall months as the cold air makes its way into our daily routine we need to remind ourselves to take extra care. Our hands take a beating and we often ignore them until it’s freezing out. There are so many really gorgeous knitted fingerless gloves available now that look perfect when layering.
KO: I consider you one of my favorite DIY queens, can you share a fall recipe”
IL: It would be my pleasure
Simple Skin Smoother: Indie Lee’s DIY Egg & Oatmeal Exfoliating Mask
This one of the best masks for dull, dry winter skin because it exfoliates the dead skin, leaving you with a new, radiant glow! This mask uses egg whites which shrink pores (in fact I like to call them nature’s facelift), while the lemon juice clears pores, and the oatmeal gently exfoliates!
It’s also great because it has just three ingredients.
- 1 Egg White
- 1 tbsp. of Old Fashioned Oatmeal (not instant)
- 1 tbsp. of Lemon Juice
Directions: In a small glass bowl, whisk the egg white until frothy.
Then add the oatmeal and lemon juice and mix well.
Apply a thin layer of mix over your face and decolletage and relax for 15-20 minutes. After that just rinse mix off with some water to reveal brighter, softer skin!
KO: My skin gets really strange going from summer to fall, and I always feel like I should exfoliate. Do you a good DIY you can share.
IL: Yes here is an amazing DYI featuring cranberries. Cranberries have some amazing anti-aging properties and will leave your skin looking refreshed. They are also highly acidic, which makes them perfect for oily skin types. This recipe is super easy: all you need are cranberries and yogurt. Just blend the two ingredients in a blender and transfer to a bowl, and then you can apply the mask and leave it on for about 20 minutes, rinsing with cold water after.
