As an Emmy nominated makeup artist, I’m obsessed with beauty and fashion! Recently I was like Alice in Wonderland during New York City Fashion Week. I’m here to share with you some of the makeup trends that walked the runways for the spring and summer shows (Fashion Week always previews two seasons ahead). I was ecstatic this season to go back stage and attend shows that featured one of my favorite makeup companies Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. The possibilities are endless with this brand. Check out some of the looks you will see on a face near you soon.

Full Eyebrows: Next year be prepared to see fuller eyebrows. Key makeup artist Courtney Tichman showed this at the Arden Wohl show described this look as “ cool girl inspired by the sexy, carefree vibe of Tahiti” . She used OCC Cosmetic Colour Eye Pencil in Sybil to achieve this look. Make sure to brush your brows after applying.

Smokey Eyes: There were a lot of smokey eyes sashaying down the runway. The smokey eye looks I most observed was created with liner on the bottom lash line instead of dark shadow on the lids. At the Laurel Dewitt show artist used: OCC “DISCIPLINE’ Crème Colour Concentrate, ‘SMOTE’ Loose Colour Concentrate, ‘SYBIL’ Colour Pencil, ‘TARRED’ Cosmetic Colour Pencil. The makeup artist called the look was “metallic eyes suitable for a khalessi”.

Glowing Skin and soft cheeks: Great skin is always in, so make sure to start with a great facial and good skincare. Key makeup artist Lottie Stannard showed clean skin at the Erin Fetherston show. To achieve this look at home try OCC skin. Blush should look like you just finished doing yoga, try OCC Lip Tar in Lament. The overall look according to the artist is “ 90’s Kate Moss with a modern spin’

Lips: Nude lips are back in, which is the exact opposite of what’s on the lips this fall and winter (dark berry even black). It’s nice to know that lips will be natural and neutral again. We say this look featured at the Eckhaus Latta show with lips in Lament Lip Tar.

So let’s review:

  • Let your eyebrows grow in this winter (so you can achieve a fuller brow by spring)
  • Keep your skin moisturized this winter
  • Get a few facials
  • Practice doing smoky eyeliner
  • & Enjoy the dark lipstick (if your following that trend) because it about to get a whole lot lighter.
