How to Get Perfect, Smooth Feet

When the temperature starts becoming cooler, your feet tend to go into hiding. No longer are the lazy days of sandals and summer. Your feet officially live in slippers, boots and socks. But don’t forget about them! Your feet need pampering now more than ever because boots and cold weather can cause rough and dry feet. Here are some tips to keep the skin on your feet looking and feeling fresh and beautiful.

1. File your feet a few times a week before you shower, especially when your feet are dry and have calluses. Don’t apply too much pressure or it can break the skin and cause irritation and pain. Invest in a good foot file and foot scrub. You can even use in the shower or bath if you want.

2. Exfoliate regularly. After filing your feet, use a gentle foot scrub and lightly massage the scrub in a circular motion. Focus on any rough areas or calluses. Foot scrubs will get rid of any dead skin cells and smooth dry skin, leaving your feet smooth and touchable.

3. Hydrate! Lotion up your feet every night. It especially helps to massage on foot lotion then sleep in socks to help lock in the hydration and treat cracked heals. It will also protect your skin from the harshness of winter months. Look for foot lotions with shea butter, coconut milk and vitamin E for extra pampering.

4. Keep your toenails trimmed to avoid pressure from wearing close-toed shoes and boots all the time.

5. Mix it up with color! Keep your toes looking gorgeous. Even though your feet are hidden most of the time, you don’t want to be unprepared when you have to wear a strappy sandal to that holiday party. Go for a darker shade for the winter months.

6. As they say on the popular show “Parks and Recreation”, “treat yo’self!” If you only get pedicures in the summer months, switch it up and treat yourself to a pedicure at least once this winter. I promise it will help you feel so much better in the cold, dark days of winter and your feet will thank you!
