How to Grow Your Lashes Naturally

Long, luxurious lashes are always all the rage for women. If the eyes are the window to your soul, don’t you want the curtains to be thick and beautiful lashes? If you weren’t blessed with thick, long and curly lashes, there are some things you can do to give yourself a little boost in the lash department. Mascaras can help, but sometimes you need a little extra lift to lengthen, strengthen and make your lashes longer.

1. Always remove makeup before bed and especially don’t leave mascara on while you sleep. Take off all of your eye makeup off before you hit the sack and use makeup remover if you need a little extra help getting it all off, especially if you use waterproof mascara. Taking off your makeup will help prevent eye infections and irritated eyes and avoid sticky and clumped lashes. Just make sure you don’t rub your skin too harshly, especially in your delicate eye area, while removing makeup or this can eventually lead to wrinkles.

2. Take a break from curlers and mascara for your eyelashes’ health. Using mascara and eyelash curlers every day can lead to breakage in your lashes and pull some your eyelashes out over time. Be gentle when you use these products and give yourself a break every few days. You are beautiful without makeup and your lashes will be thankful for a little breather from harsh products.

3. Use Vaseline on your lashes every night before bed. It will moisturize dry or fragile lashes and help them become stronger, which will prevent breakage in the future. You can apply the Vaseline with your fingers or a clean, unused mascara wand. You only need one coat and it does wonders for your lush lashes.

4. If you’ve exhausted all of your options and are still left with limp and short lashes, you might want to try a lash treatment. If you are interested, talk to your dermatologist about the risks involved and make sure you know how to apply the treatments properly for the best benefits. Here are a few popular options:

a. RevitaLash Advanced. This treatment costs a pretty penny at $98, but it uses natural ingredients such as biotin, green tea extract, peptides and antioxidants from plants to strengthen and condition your lashes. It also helps protect against daily irritants.
b. Latisse. This is a prescription treatment that helps thicken, lengthen and darken lashes. I’ve heard this one really does work if you use it regularly, but side effects could include the changing of the color of your eyes. So if you have a gorgeous eye color, it might not be worth it to risk that. Talk to your dermatologist if you have concerns.
c. RapidLash Eyelash and Eyebrow Enhancing Serum. This one is a little cheaper at $50, but still pricey. This one strengthens lashes and helps prevent and resist breakage. This is a good option if you are looking to enhance both your lashes and your eyebrows.
