We all get stressed and we all have ways of dealing with it, whether they are healthy or not. Sometimes the escape of stress in turning to a drink or a cigarette can hurt us more in the long run and only cover up the stress instead of effectively getting rid of it. Whatever you’re dealing with, here are some scientifically-proven, healthy ways to beat stress now.



1. Meditation. Meditation helps you control your breathing, stay in the present moment and let go of things that are bothering you. It also helps to say positive affirmations while you meditate and breathe deeply. It can help you calm down quickly and focus on what you need to do to overcome your stressors.

2. Reading. Reading is a great healthy distraction. Even reading something for only six minutes can reduce your stress levels quickly. So grab a happy book or funny newspaper article and take your mind off what is bothering you.
