Natural Remedies for Yeast Infections
This one is for the ladies. Yeast infections are extremely annoying and embarrassing and happen more often in the summer months. This is because you spend more time in a wet bathing suit, more time sweating with higher temperatures and humidity and both of these can cause candida to grow and give you a yeast infection.
Monistat is most likely your go-to for curing yeast infections, but the chemicals can actually cause you more pain and irritation sometimes. If you’re looking for more of a natural cure or help in stopping the itching and pain that comes from yeast infections, try some of these natural remedies. As always, see your doctor if your yeast infection isn’t going away.
- Garlic is a great anti-fungal, antiseptic and has antiviral properties. Peel one garlic clove and insert it right in your vagina. Keep it in for a few hours then remove. Make sure it is large enough so you won’t have any trouble removing it. You should feel some serious relief.
- Dip a tampon in plain, unsweetened yogurt and put it in your vagina. Yogurt has probiotics and the cool temperature helps ease itching. Eat more yogurt too to help heal the infection.
- Drink coconut milk and apply topically. It may take a little longer to heal than these other remedies, but it is very easy to do if you’re a regular coconut milk drinker.
- Castor oil. Swallow a teaspoon of castor oil daily and apply it topically to help heal your infection. Keep it in the fridge for a cooling effect that soothes the itchiness. Castor oil has antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral effects just like garlic.
Do you ever get yeast infections? Do you find that they are more common in the summer? Have you ever tried any of these natural remedies? If so, do you find they work or do you stick with Monistat and anti-itch cream?
