As summer rolls around, your skincare routine needs to change. This is because the weather is changing and that means your skin will change as well. As the sun heats up, the humidity rises and you sweat more, you’ll have to change your skincare and makeup routine. You’ll want to cleanse your skin well or else you can get more pores clogged which leads to breakouts and irritation. Here are some tips for making the most of your skincare routine in the summer:
- Try double cleansing your face. Start with an oil-based cleanser or just a face wipe to get off stubborn makeup. Then use another gentle face wash to get rid of sweat, dirt and any makeup residue.
- Rinse your skin and your hair well. Why your hair? Aren’t we talking about skincare? Well, shampoo and conditioner can lead to breakouts if it gets clogged in your pores. This happens when you don’t rinse your hair well and don’t rinse your hairline thoroughly. Rinse your face and hair until the water runs clear always.
- Lighten up your makeup routine. Less is more when it comes to makeup in the heat and humidity. Too much and it will melt and clog your pores, which will lead to breakouts. Switch to BB creams or tinted moisturizers with SPF instead of heavy foundations. Try waterproof makeup options too to keep your makeup from melting off in the hot sun.
- Embrace summer. Instead of forcing your skin to look matte, try a dewy look that goes with humidity. To keep your skin from looking too oily, keep some blotting papers on hand. Tissues also work well to blot your skin and remove dirt and sweat quickly and easily.
