Are you thinking about your resolutions for 2017? Studies show that resolutions don’t really work very well. So, what works? Vision boards! What are vision boards? Vision boards are basically a visualization of your dreams and goals. Visualization is a powerful mind exercise actually used by successful entrepreneurs and Olympic athletes. When you create a board that you look at often, you end up visualizing often throughout the day and attracting what you want in life. It keeps you focused on your dreams and goals and you are more apt to go after them.
When you start to create your vision board, don’t just think about things that you want, think about how you want to feel. For example, on my vision board I included words like “happy all day”, “love” and “gratitude”. You can also put anything that inspires and motivates you. Start thinking of your goals in several different areas of your life including, relationships, finances, home, career, travel, spirituality and health. You can start by writing some things down and setting intentions or thinking about words to focus on in the upcoming year.
You can use any type of board, but I recommend one that you can change pictures on it easily. For example, I found a corkboard that has a pretty frame and used push pins to stick pictures on it. I can easily change out pictures when I have new goals. Grab magazines to cut pictures and words out of or print pictures from your computer. You don’t have to limit it to pictures either. Use whatever inspires you on your vision board! If you want, invite a friend over and make vision boards together and talk about your dreams and goals.
