Pre-Makeup Skin Care Routine

Are you properly taking care of your skin before you put on makeup in the morning? Well you might be missing a step or two! When your face is cleansed and moisturized properly, your makeup will last much longer and look that much more glowing. Here is the best skin care routine for any skin type:

  1. Wash your face every morning. Use a light and refreshing cleanser to wash away dirt, oil and any night creams you may have used last night. Then exfoliate to further push away dead skin cells and reveal brighter skin. If your skin is sensitive, only exfoliate a few times a week instead.
  2. Next, moisturizer properly. If you have very dry skin, you’ll need a more heavy-duty moisturizer every day. If you have oily skin, look for a light, oil-free moisturizer. Apply moisturizer when your skin is still slightly damp so it will fully absorb into skin. Let dry before applying makeup.
  3. Don’t forget to add anti-aging into your morning routine! Try an eye serum to reduce under eye circles and puffiness, especially if you didn’t get enough sleep the night before. If your eyes are very puffy and tired, a quick tip is to keep your under eye cream in the refrigerator to refresh your eyes! Use another anti-aging treatment if you are looking to reduce wrinkles or fine lines as well. Let dry before applying makeup.
  4. Next, apply makeup as you normally do! Your skin should be fresh and the perfect canvas for a beautiful makeup look, no matter how much or how little you apply.
