Thin Hair Mistakes To Avoid

If you have thin hair, you might be bummed you can’t get the volume or thickness you desire. Also, there are some common mistakes thin-haired girls make. Here they are and tips to avoid doing them if you have thin hair. Check them out and let us know if you’ve made these mistakes:

  1. Not using a thickening or root lifting spray. Your hair doesn’t always have to lay flat and have no body. Keranique has a great lift and repair spray that helps give your hair more body, it also protects your hair from heat when you are blow drying. There are many different kinds of products out there, and you can try different ones to achieve different results or styles.
  2. Using too much product in your hair. It will only weigh your hair down and make it look even flatter. Avoid putting products on your roots to avoid weighing your hair down. This includes conditioner. You may not need to use anything except shampoo. Also avoid using water that is too warm. Rinsing your hair in cold water is best for your scalp and hair.
  3. You might be blow drying your hair wrong. Blow dry your roots away from your scalp to achieve extra height and volume. Use a round brush to help lift roots.
  4. Using a curling iron instead of hot rollers. Hot rollers are best for thin-haired gals for larger and more voluminous curls.
  5. Not using a crimper. You might think crimpers died with the 80’s, but a tiny crimper underneath the top layer of your hair can give the illusion of thicker hair.
  6. Having a style of hair that is way too long. The longer your hair gets, the rattier it will look and it will be more prone to breakage if you have really thin hair. If you have fine hair, stick with a length around your shoulders or shorter for a great shape.
  7. Not dealing with fly-aways. Thin hair can get fly-aways very easily and breakage because of the fine texture and fragility of the hair. Use clear mascara to tame any fly-aways. It is easy to use, works well and doesn’t weigh your hair down.
  8. Not dealing with product buildup. Your scalp can be weighed down by products and even the environment easily if you have thin hair. Use a clarifying shampoo at least once a week to remove buildup and keep your hair clean and your scalp healthy.
  9. Not changing up your hair style. Bangs, short pixie cuts and exaggerated parts look amazing if you have thin hair. Switch it up and ask your hairstylist for a cut that will help you embrace your natural texture. Layers also help your hair look thicker and more voluminous.
  10. Lastly, embrace your natural hair! Lots of thick-haired girls long for hair that dries flat and perfectly pin straight.
