How to Love Your Body as It Is Now

Do you truly love yourself? Do you truly love your body? Or are you constantly wishing you were thinner or x, y, and z were different on your body? So many of us diet and spend all this time and money trying to perfect our bodies to an impossible standard. We want to share some advice on how to love your body as it is right now, not in some hypothetical future. Keep in mind if you are engaged in disordered eating or exercise or any other dangerous behaviors, please seek help from a professional.

Start a gratitude journal for yourself and your body. Every day journal about your favorite features and how grateful you are for the things your body does like being able to walk and being healthy. Start thinking about your body in terms of it being the only one you’ll ever get and how grateful you are for your health.

Try a selfie practice. Take a selfie every day and challenge yourself to find three things you love about yourself and NEVER, EVER think about the things you dislike.

Get rid of your scale. Even if you are actively trying to lose weight, your scale isn’t your friend. Your weight changes at the drop of a hat because of so many different factors. It will only cause you to look at yourself in a negative light.

Notice your thoughts. Every time you think something negative about yourself, acknowledge it and stop the thought! Think about it this way, when you think something, would you say it to a friend or a loved one? If not, don’t say it to yourself!

Practice self-care. What makes you feel better and more loved? It can be something as simple as lighting a candle or taking a bath or something more expensive like getting a haircut or getting your nails done. Treat yourself like the amazing person you are!

Go through your social media and unfollow anyone who makes you feel bad about yourself or who you often compare yourself to. Only look at REAL people. Unfollow those photoshopped models that make you want to attain an unrealistic goal. This same rule goes for magazines.

Do you truly love your body the way it is now? Have you ever tried any of these tips to practice self-love or body love? Share your beautiful selfies with us and let’s lift each other up too!
