Best Hair Colors for Your Complexion

Changing your hair color can be exciting and fun, but it can also be overwhelming because they are so many options! However, you can narrow it down to colors that compliment you specifically. Are you looking for a hair color that will compliment your skin tone? Below is a list of hair colors to compliment your skin tone and make you look fabulous:

  • Porcelain and fair skin with cool undertones pair well with cool tones, such as platinum blonde or icy blonde. Darker colors that pair well are red violet, rich true red, black, and deep brown. Many of these blonde colors have a blue or violet undertone in them. This skin tone does not pair as well with warm colors, such as caramel, gold or coppers.

  • Fair skin with warm undertones can be complemented with warmer tones to bring out the warmth in the skin. These colors include butterscotch, copper, red, gold, and caramel. People with this skin tone should avoid colors with blue or violet hues or undertones.1
  • Medium cool undertone skin can wear almost any color, as long as it’s not too extreme. Lighter hair colors that compliment the skin are sand, wheat or beige blonde. For the darker hair color, ashy hues look best, such as a medium walnut brown. If someone prefers a red hue, medium auburn and cinnamon are both extremely flattering.1
  • Medium skin with warm undertones is best complemented with warm hues, such as gold. This ranges from golden red, golden brown, to golden blonde. This skin tone is also ideal for the always favorite caramel colors. Avoid anything too ashy, as it will wash out your face.1

  • Deep, cool complexions look beautiful with inky blacks, espresso, blue-black, and deep violet colors. Highlights can be a nice compliment as well. The highlights should be from the cool tone family, for example, brown, blue-red, or platinum blonde.1
  • Deep, warm undertones look best with caramel or toffee hues for lighter hair. For darker hair colors, mahogany, maple, brown, and warm blacks.1
