Do you hate working out? Do you dread going to the gym or simply prefer to work out in the comforts of your own home doing something more fun? If you’re looking for a fun way to exercise, a dance workout might be right for you. There are tons of different options and you can easily try a dance workout at home, at the gym or a classroom setting if you prefer. Here are some of the best dance workouts to try:


  • Zumba is a fitness program that relies heavily on the teachings of Latin dance. Zumba can be done alone from workout DVDs or videos online or you could join a Zumba class at your local gym or fitness center.

Just Dance – dance video games

  • Just Dance is a video game with many different versions and it is compatible with many different gaming devices such as PlayStation and Wii. It is an easy and fun workout that both kids and adults can enjoy together. You simply follow the instructions on screen and dance along to different songs, music and dance styles. There is even an option to count calories and make it a workout in the newer versions of the game. This is a perfect fit because you can play alone or with others, select how long you’d like to dance and plus it is really fun! You will likely forget that you are working out!

  • If you don’t like Latin dance or don’t have a gaming system, there are tons of other dance workout DVDs you can purchase. You can also try looking up free dance workout online or on Youtube. If you prefer to work out at a gym or fitness studio with others, ask about their group dance classes. Some places offer hip hop, ballroom and other types of dance classes. Just make sure to select one based on your dancing and exercise abilities.
